Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid

I'm going to say it, straight up, that the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid in Sunkissed is a big fail for me (it also has a ridiculously long name). I was totally sucked in by the gold CC's on the bottle and a rave review from a girl on YouTube. Then I was sorely disappointed.

The packaging of this product is luxe and expensive, as you would expect from Chanel. It comes in a weighty frosted glass bottle with a small opening at the top. When swatched, this product gives a gorgeous bronzey glow, with subtle gold shimmer. When I put it on my face it does the same thing, however it somehow makes my foundation disappear from underneath it. I've tried to use this many times but every single time, no matter how little I apply or how gently I pat it on, I am left with a stripe on my cheekbones of my skin showing through. Instead of putting gleam on my cheekbones it just makes my makeup look weird, like I applied a full face of makeup, then wiped off the foundation on my cheekbones and made them shiny on purpose. I bought mine for approximately $58 from Strawberry Net but I urge you not to do the same. Hopefully I can find some use for it, suggestions welcome!

  1. That's so weird. Maybe pat it on? I've never heard of that before. Just odd.

    1. That's what I do! No matter how gentle I am it's like it dissolves all the other product. I've never experienced this with a highlighter before :(

  2. Can you mix a drop or two in with your foundation?

  3. I have this too and it's totally too bulky for my preferred makeup items and never fits anywhere storage wise. I'm wishing I'd never bought it and I think I got the wrong Chanel item - there is a flatter looking cream version of this somewhere I think I meant to buy instead! Adding it to the blog sale pile, sigh!

    1. I definitely know what you mean. I actually had the cream version, the Tan De Chanel, but I didn't like that either! It was too orange for me so I gave it up.
